The Polygon RPC (Remote Procedure Call) layer is the interface between user applications — wallets, dApps, explorers — and the Polygon blockchain. When RPC nodes go down, transactions stall and balances fail to load even if the underlying chain is producing blocks normally. This page tracks the live status of all major Polygon RPC endpoints.
Public Polygon RPC Endpoints
The official Polygon Foundation provides public RPC endpoints for the PoS mainnet and Amoy testnet. As of March 2026, all public endpoints are reporting Operational status with 100% uptime over the past 90 days. The Polygon Portal, used by retail users to view token balances and interact with the network, is also fully operational following a brief Balance API issue in early March that did not affect network operations.
Common public endpoints include:
- Polygon PoS Mainnet RPC: https://polygon-rpc.com
- Polygon PoS Mainnet RPC (backup): https://rpc-mainnet.matic.network
- Amoy Testnet RPC: https://rpc-amoy.polygon.technology
Third-Party Polygon RPC Providers
Many developers and dApps rely on third-party RPC providers rather than the public endpoints, for higher rate limits, guaranteed SLAs, and geographic redundancy. Major providers include Alchemy, Infura, QuickNode, Chainstack, and Ankr. During the December 2025 Bor RPC incident, some of these providers were more affected than others, highlighting the importance of multi-provider redundancy.
The December 2025 incident exposed infrastructure fragility, not protocol-level failure. Running multiple RPC providers protects against single-provider outages.
What to Do When Polygon RPC Is Down
If you are experiencing RPC connectivity issues, follow these steps:
- Check the official Polygon status page at status.polygon.technology to confirm whether the outage is network-wide or limited to a specific provider.
- Switch your wallet or dApp to a backup RPC endpoint from a different provider.
- Monitor the Polygon Foundation's official channels for patch announcements and resolution timelines.
- For dApp developers, implement automatic RPC failover logic using libraries that support multiple provider fallback.
During confirmed outages, the Polygon team typically deploys patches within one to two hours, as demonstrated in both the July and December 2025 incidents. Subscribe to the official status page for Slack or Teams notifications to be alerted the moment service is restored.
